O-CEI Horizon will take part in AIOTI Days 2026, held in Florence on 28–29 September 2026, with a dedicated workshop bringing together several perspectives on the project’s approach to building an interoperable and deployable Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystem.

Under the title “O-CEI Project: Coordinating Cloud-Edge-IoT Resources for Innovative Energy and Mobility Scenarios,” the workshop will explore how the project combines standardisation, digital asset management, marketplace mechanisms, distributed computing and platform architecture to address the practical challenges of deploying CEI solutions across heterogeneous infrastructures.

The session will open with Cécile Rabrait (TRIALOG), who will present O-CEI’s work on CEI asset management and standardisation, including the rationale for a dedicated asset management framework and its relationship with existing standards for asset assurance and governance. Giovanni Rimassa (D4P) will then present the O-CEI Marketplace, focusing on the discovery and reuse of blueprints, utilities and machine-readable deployment assets, and their potential to support more reusable and sustainable digital infrastructure.

The workshop will also bring the project’s technical approach into the context of real-world applications. Eusebiu Catana (ERTICO) will introduce the work of O-CEI Pilot 2 on Software-Defined Vehicles, where vehicle, edge, telecom and cloud resources are treated as part of a coordinated computing continuum capable of dynamically responding to requirements related to safety, latency, connectivity and energy efficiency. Nikolaos Marianos (GSC) will showcase O-CEI Pilot 5, addressing the use of Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies in energy-intensive agrifood environments. The presentation will highlight how IoT sensing, data harmonisation and edge intelligence are being combined to optimise energy consumption while improving animal welfare and production performance in dairy farming and halloumi cheese production.

The technical picture will be completed by Vasilis Pitsilis (NCSRD), who will present the O-CEI underlying technology architecture and its approach to product-centric deployment across heterogeneous CEI infrastructures. Attention will be given to the O-CEI Blueprint Product Operator and its role in translating common deployment specifications into environment-specific artefacts, supporting portability and interoperability across different Meta-OS platforms and orchestration environments.

By bringing these perspectives together, the workshop will illustrate how O-CEI connects standardisation, reusable digital assets, platform technologies and large-scale pilots into a coherent approach for making Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions easier to deploy, integrate and reuse across different domains.

The technical session will be followed by a complementary O-CEI workshop focusing on business perspectives, exploitation and commercialisation, providing a broader view of how the project aims to move from technological innovation towards sustainable adoption and market impact.
