On April 11th, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) hosted a workshop in Geneva on “Security and Privacy for Digital Twin and Metaverse”, gathering experts from across the globe to explore the foundational challenges of these emerging digital ecosystems. Among the invited speakers was Antonio Kung from Trialog, a partner in the Horizon Europe project O-CEI, who brought forward critical insights on the intersection of architecture, governance, and trust.
In his presentation, Mr. Kung addressed two of the most pressing challenges facing digital twins and the metaverse: ecosystem integration and governance.
He presented the application of the Hourglass Model, designed in CEI-Sphere and O-CEI, to the description of the Metaverse Ecosystem and emphasized the necessity to be able to reuse common components to improve interoperability.
Mr. Kung also demonstrated how the Hourglass Model can be applied to define architecture patterns that embed security and privacy into the core of future Metaverse domain profiles.
This contribution highlights O-CEI’s commitment to shaping the future of trusted, interoperable digital infrastructures for industrial cloud-edge-IoT systems and the broader digital environments of tomorrow.
