O-CEI at AIOTI Workshop on Energy Infrastructure and Edge Intelligence
O-CEI will participate in the Empowering Energy Infrastructure: The Role of 5G/6G and Edge Intelligence, organised by AIOTI, taking place on 7 May 2026 in Brussels. The workshop will bring together key stakeholders from Large-Scale Pilots, industry, and policy to explore how next-generation connectivity and edge intelligence can enable smarter and more resilient energy infrastructures.
O-CEI will be represented by Pilot 1 and Pilot 7, contributing to Panel 2: Pilots Presentations and Open Discussion.
Brian O’Regan, from University College Cork, the Pilot 1 leader, will participate as speaker and panellist, sharing insights on how the Cloud–Edge–IoT continuum supports the deployment of intelligent, connected energy systems and contributes to the evolution of Europe’s digital energy ecosystem.
Maria Makrynioti, from CERTH, representing Pilot 7, will also contribute as a speaker and panellist, focusing on the practical challenges of scaling smart energy solutions, including interoperability and governance. The presentation will highlight real-world deployment of edge-to-cloud architectures and demonstrate how 5G/6G and distributed intelligence can connect decentralised energy assets with the grid.
O-CEI Horizon’s participation reflects its active role within the broader European Cloud–Edge–IoT ecosystem and its collaboration with initiatives such as CEI-Sphere, contributing to the alignment of Large-Scale Pilot results with market needs, standards, and the European data strategy.
