The future of Energy Data Spaces is being shaped through collaboration, interoperability, and standardized approaches. As part of these efforts, the Trialog, our partner in O-CEI Horizon, actively participated in the OMEGA-X Standardization Workshop, a key event focused on strengthening connections with standardization committees working on Data Spaces and Smart Grids.
The workshop provided a platform to:
- Review the current state of standardization activities
- Identify key priorities and challenges in interoperability
- Discuss opportunities for meaningful contributions to Standard Development Organizations (SDOs).
Drawing insights from OMEGA-X and related projects, the session explored the implementation of Data Spaces within the energy sector and findings from the task force on energy interoperability frameworks. A special focus was placed on addressing vertical and horizontal interoperability challenges, ensuring the development of actionable recommendations for standardization bodies.
Trialog’s Contribution: The Hourglass Model & Data Spaces Ecosystem
Antonio Kung (Trialog) played a pivotal role in these discussions by presenting the Hourglass model and the standards ecosystem in Data Spaces and Privacy. His presentation highlighted:
- The relationship between information models, architecture patterns, and interoperability profiles
- How minimum interoperability mechanisms facilitate seamless data exchange
- The importance of open-source implementations in driving adoption
By aligning O-CEI’s vision with ongoing standardization efforts, these contributions are essential to ensuring that Data Spaces for the energy sector are both scalable and secure while maintaining compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue working towards a more connected and interoperable future!
