SUMMARY:2nd International Workshop on MetaOS for the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum (MECC 2025)
DESCRIPTION:On March 31st 2025\, Mr. Rafael Vaño\, from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will participate in the MECC Workshop\, co-organised with the ACM EuroSys conference. \n\n\n\nMr. Vañó will present the results of a scientific work focused on the advances of edge and cloud-native innovative technologies and concepts. The article presented\, titled “Federation of domains in the distributed environment of the Cloud-Edge-IoT Continuum” includes reflections and applicability in engaging sectors such as those covered in O-CEI. An additional connection with the O-CEI platform will be presented.  \n\n\n\nThe MECC workshop aims to provide a comprehensive look at the opportunities and challenges of deploying a MetaOS to orchestrate the Cloud-Edge-IoT ecosystem\, with a strong focus on optimizing AI workloads. Through technical talks\, interactive sessions\, and panel discussions\, key topics such as interoperability\, standardization\, and open-source contributions will be explored. \n\n\n\nAttendees will engage in discussions\, share research insights\, and collaborate on innovative solutions to push the boundaries of MetaOS development.

SUMMARY:UPV lecture to TU Dresden
DESCRIPTION:On April 2nd\, 2025\, Dr. Ignacio Lacalle (UPV) addressed a group of professors and PhD students fromthe Construction Informatics faculty at TU Dresden to elaborate on O-CEI innovations. The session\, “Cloud-Edge Technology and Its Impact on Symbiotic Buildings”\, consisted of a pitchfocusing on how edge computing technologies are (and will be) a key enabler in achieving energy-positive buildings. The advanced features endorsed by O-CEI (such as networking heterogeneity\,edge AI\, cybersecurity\, and more) are set to play a crucial role in forecasting energy consumption anddemand in increasingly complex buildings. This allows for dynamic load adjustments\, networkrefeeding\, and citizen participation in P2P energy trading schemes. \nThe event\, held in a hybrid format\, included a Q&A session\, where relevant inquiries emerged\,mostly centered on O-CEI’s capacity to drive innovations in the construction sector. Topics includedworkplace object detection\, energy consumption forecasting\, and decisions on microservicesplacement between cloud and edge computing locations.

SUMMARY:EU-JAPAN DIGITAL WEEK 2025
DESCRIPTION:On April 2nd\, during the “Trusted Data Exchanges: From Standards to Pilots in a Changing World” workshop\, Martin Bauer (NEC Laboratories) will present the topic: “Introducing the role of NGSI-LD in enabling flexible and interoperable data exchanges across domains including handling of provenance information.” \nNGSI-LD standard (ETSI GS CIM 009) is one of the most widely adopted implementations for Minimum-Interoperability-Mechanisms (MIMs). A key goal of the O-CEI project is to ensure seamless interoperability between diverse systems\, which we can achieve through the adoption of MIMs. The NGSI-LD standard facilitates the structured exchange of context information across distributed environments\, promoting compatibility among various applications and platforms. By enabling efficient data sharing\, NGSI-LD plays a vital role in supporting smart cities\, IoT networks\, and other sectors that rely on dynamic context information management. \nNEC’s presentation will be done during the “Trusted Data Exchanges: From Standards to Pilots in a Changing World” workshop\, which will look at the practical implementation of trusted data exchanges in support of the Memorandum of Cooperation on digital identities and trust services signed between the EU and Japan. \n
