SUMMARY:34rd Edition Master’s in Port Management and Intermodal Transport (MGPT)
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Presented at the 34th Edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport \nProf. Carlos Enrique Palau Salvador\, from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV)\, coordinator of the O-CEI Horizon project\, delivered a five-hour lecture as part of the 34th Edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport\, organised by the Fundación Valenciaport. \nThe session focused on Edge Computing and its growing role in enabling distributed digital services across the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum. Participants were introduced to the key concepts\, technological challenges\, and opportunities associated with edge-enabled architectures\, as well as their relevance for sectors such as logistics\, transport\, energy\, and smart infrastructures. \nThe lecture also presented the objectives and ongoing activities of O-CEI\, highlighting how the project is accelerating the uptake of interoperable Cloud–Edge–IoT solutions through eight large-scale pilots in strategic sectors. Particular attention was given to the project’s work on distributed intelligence\, interoperability\, reusable digital assets\, and energy flexibility. \nThe event provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of O-CEI among students and future professionals\, fostering connections between European research and higher education while promoting knowledge exchange on emerging Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies and their real-world applications.

The workshop brought together representatives from European research projects\, industry\, standardization bodies\, and the European Commission to discuss how standards and open-source collaboration can accelerate the deployment of interoperable and sovereign digital infrastructures. \nRepresenting O-CEI\, Ignacio Lacalle (Universitat Politècnica de València) presented the project’s approach to transforming Cloud–Edge–IoT blueprints into deployable digital assets through the O-CEI Platform and Marketplace. The webinar also featured Antonio Kung and Olivier Maridat from Trialog\, O-CEI’s standardization leader\, who shared perspectives on interoperability\, standards\, and the integration of charging stations into connected mobility ecosystems. \nThe discussion addressed real-world deployment challenges\, interoperable architectures\, emerging testing tools\, and the role of Cloud–Edge–IoT technologies in enabling intelligent and sustainable charging infrastructures. SUMMARY:Code the Continuum Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:Eclipse Foundation\, CEI-Sphere\, O-CEI Horizon\, and COP-PILOT Horizon will organize Code the Continuum Hackathon. \nThe event will take place on 30 June–1 July 2026 at the University of Cagliari. SUMMARY:AIOTI FG Landscape Maintenance of EU-Funded Projects
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI presented at the AIOTI Focus Group Landscape Maintenance session \nO-CEI Horizon was presented during the AIOTI Focus Group Landscape Maintenance of EU-Funded Projects online session\, where BluSpecs introduced the project as part of the latest update of AIOTI’s IoT and Edge Computing EU-Funded Projects Landscape. The session brought together representatives of European research and innovation projects to exchange updates and contribute to a shared overview of ongoing initiatives advancing the Cloud–Edge–IoT ecosystem. \nDuring the presentation\, BluSpecs provided an overview of O-CEI’s mission to accelerate the uptake of innovative Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions through eight large-scale cross-domain pilots spanning strategic sectors including energy\, electromobility\, software-defined vehicles\, agrifood\, logistics\, and urban environments. The presentation highlighted the project’s work on enabling interoperable Cloud–Edge–IoT infrastructures\, reusable blueprints\, open marketplaces\, cross-domain data sharing\, and energy flexibility. \nThe session also showcased O-CEI’s strong commitment to standardisation\, outlining its ongoing and planned contributions to organisations such as ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41\, ETSI TC DATA\, AIOTI\, and BDVA. Attention was given to activities including the proposed CEI Asset Management Framework\, contributions to semantic interoperability standards\, collaboration with AIOTI and BDVA working groups\, and the project’s growing portfolio of scientific publications supporting the wider Cloud–Edge–IoT community. \nBy participating in the AIOTI Landscape Maintenance activity\, O-CEI further strengthened its visibility within the European IoT and Edge Computing ecosystem while contributing to a shared understanding of the latest research\, technological developments\, and standardisation efforts shaping Europe’s digital future.

SUMMARY:AI for Good Global Summit 2026
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Pilot 8 participated in the AI for Good Global Summit 2026\, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva\, Switzerland\, from 7–10 July 2026. The event brought together researchers\, innovators\, industry representatives\, policymakers\, and international organisations to explore how artificial intelligence can contribute to addressing global challenges under the theme “Unlocking AI’s Potential to Serve Humanity.” \nRepresenting O-CEI Horizon\, Pilot 8 joined the État de Genève / HES-SO exhibition booth\, where project partners presented the pilot’s objectives\, ongoing activities\, and progress to date. The event provided an opportunity to engage with a diverse international audience and discuss how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies and AI can support more sustainable and citizen-centred energy systems. \nAs part of the summit programme\, Konstantin Skaburskas delivered a presentation entitled “Socially Acceptable Open AI-Based Systems for Energy Transition.” The presentation explored how open and transparent AI approaches can support the energy transition while preserving user trust\, control\, and social acceptance. These topics are central to Pilot 8\, which is investigating how citizens can actively engage with energy flexibility solutions through trustworthy and socially accepted digital tools. \nThe AI for Good Global Summit provided Pilot 8 with an excellent opportunity to showcase its work to an international audience while engaging with experts from the fields of artificial intelligence\, digital innovation\, sustainability\, and energy transition. Through discussions\, presentations\, panel sessions\, and exhibitions\, the team exchanged perspectives on emerging technological developments\, societal expectations\, and policy priorities related to the responsible use of AI. These interactions generated valuable insights for the pilot’s ongoing activities and increased the visibility of O-CEI within the broader international community working at the intersection of AI\, energy\, and digital transformation.

SUMMARY:ETSI NGSI-LD Testing Task Force
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Horizon will contribute to ETSI NGSI-LD interoperability and standardisation activities \nO-CEI partners NEC and Seamware will participate in the ETSI NGSI-LD Testing Task Force\, taking place from 20 to 23 July 2026 at the ETSI Headquarters in Sophia-Antipolis\, France. \nOrganised by ETSI Technical Committee DATA\, this Task Force brings together NGSI-LD implementation providers and stakeholders to advance interoperability testing\, conformance validation\, and the continued evolution of the NGSI-LD context information protocol and APIs (ETSI GS CIM 009). NGSI-LD is a key enabler for Smart Cities\, IoT applications\, digital twins\, and data-driven digital ecosystems. \nDuring the event\, NEC’s Scorpio Broker and the Orion-LD Broker\, maintained by Seamware\, will participate in interoperability and conformance testing activities alongside other NGSI-LD implementations. Both solutions are part of the O-CEI catalogue and represent important building blocks for enabling interoperable Cloud-Edge-IoT environments. \nNGSI-LD also plays a central role in the Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) Minimal Interoperability Mechanisms (MIMs)\, which provide a foundation for achieving interoperability across heterogeneous systems\, platforms\, and domains. O-CEI considers the adoption of open standards and specifications such as NGSI-LD and the MIMs as essential to accelerating the deployment of reusable and interoperable Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions. \nThis participation comes after last year’s attendance to NGSI-LD (Next Generation Service Interface – Linked Data) Plugtests™ event. DESCRIPTION:Pilot 8 discussed social acceptance of local energy communities in Crans-Montana \nOn 15 August 2026\, O-CEI Pilot 8 contributed to the conference “Prosumers d’Energie dans les Destinations de Montagne”\, organised by the VALPIC association in Crans-Montana\, Valais\, Switzerland. \nThe presentation\, “Social Acceptance in Local Electricity Communities (LECs)”\, addressed the evolving role of citizens from energy consumers to prosumers\, the potential synergies between Local Electricity Communities and artificial intelligence\, and Pilot 8’s work within O-CEI and the BRIDGE community. The session also introduced the pilot’s research methodology for assessing the social acceptance of new energy technologies and community-based energy models. \nThe presentation was followed by an open discussion with participants\, focusing on social acceptability\, local governance\, and citizen ownership in the energy transition. The exchange provided relevant perspectives on the expectations and concerns of local communities and reinforced the importance of integrating societal considerations into the development of future energy systems. \n  \n \n \n \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Indigma AI Presents Research on Privacy-Preserving EV Demand Prediction at IWAPS Workshop (ARES Conference) \nIndigma\, winner of the O-CEI Horizon 1st Open Call\, will present the paper “Federated Learning for Electric Vehicle Energy Demand Prediction Across Distributed Users\,” at the International Workshop on Advances on Security and Privacy Technologies and Solutions (IWAPS)\, held in conjunction with the International Conference on Availability\, Reliability and Security (ARES). \nThis work directly builds upon Indigma’s ARIEL initiative (federAted oRchestration In Ev fLeets) within O-CEI Pilot 3\, demonstrating how Edge AI and Federated Learning can enable smart\, privacy-preserving energy management for large-scale electric vehicle (EV) fleets without centralizing sensitive operational data. By keeping raw telemetry localized at fleet depots and charging stations\, while sharing only trained model parameters\, Indigma’s work provides a trustworthy\, scalable\, and privacy-first foundation for European smart grid management and logistics fleets.

DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Horizon at the FIWARE Global Summit 2026 \nFrom connected vehicles to connected borders\, data is becoming a critical layer of Europe’s transport infrastructure. This topic took centre stage at the FIWARE Global Summit 2026\, where O-CEI Horizon partner ERTICO – ITS Europe contributed to discussions on the future of data spaces for mobility and logistics. \nAs part of the programme\, Eusebiu Catana delivered a keynote entitled “Making Data Spaces Happen – focus on mobility and logistics”\, presenting O-CEI Horizon Pilot 2 and examining how data spaces\, standards\, governance models and cross-border partnerships could turn data sharing into real-world transport and logistics applications. \nThe presentation focused on concrete priorities for deployment\, including the data\, standards\, governance frameworks and partnerships needed to enable effective cross-border data sharing. It also highlighted the potential of Data Spaces to become a new layer of European transport infrastructure\, supporting autonomous vehicles operating across borders\, enabling secure logistics data exchange across complex supply chains\, and allowing transport authorities and operators to coordinate in real time. \nThe discussion reflected a central challenge for the European mobility ecosystem: ensuring that data can move as freely\, securely and seamlessly as the vehicles\, people and goods it connects. Through Pilot 2\, O-CEI Horizon is exploring how interoperable Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies and trusted data sharing can contribute to this transition and support more connected\, resilient and efficient transport systems.

SUMMARY:SEMANTiCS 2026 - Practical Showcase (Practitioners Track)
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Horizon will be represented at SEMANTiCS 2026 through the “Semantic Harness for Community-Centric Energy Flexibility: Boosting User Acceptance through Explainable Agentic AI” in the Practical Showcase (Practitioners Track). \nThe work is framed within O-CEI Pilot 8 and builds on the contributions of SAIHAN4EF\, one of the projects supported through the O-CEI Horizon 1st Open Call Programme. During the showcase\, the team will demonstrate how semantic technologies and agentic AI can be combined to make energy flexibility management more intelligent\, explainable\, and accessible to end users. \nAt the centre of the demonstration will be the Semantic Harness for LLM-driven Agents (SA-H)\, presented in the paper “. It combines Knowledge Graphs\, semantic reasoning\, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG/GraphRAG)\, MCP-enabled tools\, and controlled workflows. The approach is designed to connect LLM-driven agents with real-world energy systems while grounding their reasoning in structured and trusted knowledge. \nThe practical showcase will use a smart-home energy flexibility scenario to demonstrate how knowledge-grounded LLM reasoning can support optimised energy scheduling. Beyond optimisation itself\, the prototype will focus on explaining system decisions in natural language\, helping users understand how and why flexibility actions are recommended. \nThis combination of intelligent optimisation and transparent interaction will highlight an important aspect of O-CEI’s work on energy flexibility: technology must make energy systems smarter and also make them understandable and trustworthy for the people who use and interact with them. \nThe presentation will provide an opportunity to showcase the results and practical potential of the SAIHAN4EF project\, while opening discussion on how semantic and agentic AI approaches can support the development of more intelligent\, explainable\, and user-centric energy systems.

DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Horizon is pleased to support the 3rd Edition of the ATHENA Workshop\, organised by our consortium partner NCSRD / FRONT Research Group in the framework of IEEE CloudNet 2026\, taking place from 19 to 21 October 2026 in Athens\, Greece. \nATHENA 2026 will bring together researchers\, innovators\, industry representatives\, and technology providers to discuss the latest developments in next-generation digital infrastructures and intelligent networked systems. The workshop focuses on key topics including Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks\, AI-driven network automation\, edge-cloud continuum orchestration\, distributed intelligence\, cloud-native architectures\, and emerging Cloud–Edge–IoT technologies. \nThe workshop is particularly relevant for the O-CEI community\, as it addresses many of the technological challenges and research directions that underpin the project’s vision of an open\, interoperable\, and trustworthy Cloud–Edge–IoT continuum. By fostering discussion around orchestration\, automation\, interoperability\, and intelligent infrastructure management\, ATHENA contributes to advancing the technologies needed to support future digital services across Europe. \nResearchers working in these areas are invited to submit original contributions presenting novel research results\, innovative applications\, experimental studies\, and practical experiences.
