SUMMARY:O-CEI in the Field: Cloud-Edge-IoT Applied to Agriculture Use Cases
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Pilots 5 and 6 at the CEI-Sphere Webinar on Smart and Sustainable Agriculture \nOn 17 September 2026\, O-CEI Horizon Pilots 5 and 6 joined a CEI-Sphere webinar exploring how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies can support smarter\, more sustainable agricultural operations in real-world environments. \nAs part of the webinar\, O-CEI Pilot 5 presented how edge intelligence and controlled data sharing between stables and dairies can contribute to a more sustainable Halloumi cheese production chain. The use case highlighted the role of connected technologies in improving coordination and supporting more efficient and sustainable dairy production. \nO-CEI Pilot 6 showcased its work on smart recharging and energy efficiency for robot tractors operating in large fruit production fields. The presentation demonstrated how Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies\, connectivity\, data\, and edge intelligence can be combined to support more efficient agricultural operations while addressing energy needs in the field. \nThe webinar also brought together other CEI-Sphere pilots working on agrifood applications\, providing a broader perspective on the challenges and opportunities involved in deploying Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies in agriculture. SUMMARY:11th TSN/A Conference
DESCRIPTION:The O-CEI Horizon partners working on the sub-pilot 1.2 will give a presentation on “OpenCNC Unleashed: Deploying and Exploring an Open-Source TSN Control Plane” at the 11th TSNA/A Conference 2026. \nThe presentation will highlight recent progress in OpenCNC\, an open-source centralised Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) control plane\, and its growing readiness for real-world deployment. Open-source tools such as OpenCNC can help simplify TSN management while providing a practical environment for experimentation and deployment. \nThe presentation will demonstrate key installation and configuration workflows\, including the management of traffic classes\, priorities\, and VLANs\, as well as Time-Aware Shaping (TAS) schedule generation and runtime reconfiguration. It will also discuss the scalability of the control plane and the challenges involved in moving from experimental setups towards real-world TSN deployments. \nThrough this work\, O-CEI Pilot 1 will showcase how open-source approaches can support the practical deployment\, management\, and experimentation of deterministic networking technologies within Cloud-Edge-IoT environments.

DESCRIPTION:VelesHack: Riding the Edge-to-Cloud Continuum \nEclipse Foundation\, O-CEI Horizon\, CoGNETs\, ENACT\, and HYPER-AI will organize VelesHack: Riding the Edge-to-Cloud Continuum. \nThe event will take place on 6-8 October 2026 at the Technical University of Valencia (Ciudad Politècnica de la Innovación) in a hybrid format (physical and online). It brings together students\, developers\, researchers\, and tech innovators for a coding sprint around the future of AI-powered decentralized systems. \nParticipants will tackle real-world challenges linked to four European Research Projects\, including a dedicated O-CEI track focused on the improved traceability of trust information. DESCRIPTION:On 7 October 2026\, the CEI-Sphere workshop “Integration of Charging Stations in Fleet Management for V2G Services” will take place in Brussels\, bringing together experts to discuss the evolution of charging infrastructure\, smart charging\, V2G/V2X and digital platforms for flexible fleet and energy management. \nO-CEI Pilot 3 will contribute to the workshop with a presentation by Martin Engelbrecht (AVL List GmbH) on advanced charging management and V2X functionalities. SUMMARY:ATHENA 2026 Workshop at IEEE CloudNet 2026
DESCRIPTION:O-CEI Horizon is pleased to support the 3rd Edition of the ATHENA Workshop\, organised by our consortium partner NCSRD / FRONT Research Group in the framework of IEEE CloudNet 2026\, taking place from 19 to 21 October 2026 in Athens\, Greece. \nATHENA 2026 will bring together researchers\, innovators\, industry representatives\, and technology providers to discuss the latest developments in next-generation digital infrastructures and intelligent networked systems. The workshop focuses on key topics including Beyond 5G (B5G) and 6G networks\, AI-driven network automation\, edge-cloud continuum orchestration\, distributed intelligence\, cloud-native architectures\, and emerging Cloud–Edge–IoT technologies. \nThe workshop is particularly relevant for the O-CEI community\, as it addresses many of the technological challenges and research directions that underpin the project’s vision of an open\, interoperable\, and trustworthy Cloud–Edge–IoT continuum. By fostering discussion around orchestration\, automation\, interoperability\, and intelligent infrastructure management\, ATHENA contributes to advancing the technologies needed to support future digital services across Europe. \nResearchers working in these areas are invited to submit original contributions presenting novel research results\, innovative applications\, experimental studies\, and practical experiences.
