O-CEI Presented at the 34th Edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport
Prof. Carlos Enrique Palau Salvador, from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), coordinator of the O-CEI Horizon project, delivered a five-hour lecture as part of the 34th Edition of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport, organised by the Fundación Valenciaport.
The session focused on Edge Computing and its growing role in enabling distributed digital services across the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum. Participants were introduced to the key concepts, technological challenges, and opportunities associated with edge-enabled architectures, as well as their relevance for sectors such as logistics, transport, energy, and smart infrastructures.
The lecture also presented the objectives and ongoing activities of O-CEI, highlighting how the project is accelerating the uptake of interoperable Cloud–Edge–IoT solutions through eight large-scale pilots in strategic sectors. Particular attention was given to the project’s work on distributed intelligence, interoperability, reusable digital assets, and energy flexibility.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of O-CEI among students and future professionals, fostering connections between European research and higher education while promoting knowledge exchange on emerging Cloud-Edge-IoT technologies and their real-world applications.
