The Pilots

The O-CEI pilots are designed to drive innovation and demonstrate the practical applications of key sectors. By focusing on diverse domains, the initiative seeks to showcase scalable solutions that align with energy flexibility goals while addressing sector-specific challenges. Each pilot brings together a collaborative network of industry leaders, SMEs, research and technology organizations (RTOs), and midcaps to ensure impactful results and cross-sectoral synergies.
These collaborative efforts aim to push the boundaries of CEI implementation and foster innovation across diverse sectors.

THE 6 DOMAINS

Below is an overview of the core domains:

Three pilots in France, Ireland, and Croatia will scale up cutting-edge technologies, with results extended to the Mobility sector in Austria, Spain, and Italy. Key energy providers such as EDF, Energie Steiermark, and Enemalta are involved

Activities in Cyprus and Spain will explore advancements in energy mix selection and electromobility, with involvement from partners such as Charalambides Christis and GARAIA.

Pilots in Austria, Italy, Spain, and Romania, supported by partners like AVL, Continental, Agrimac, Agria ZE, the Austrian Postal Service electric fleet, and E-GAP, demonstrate significant progress in integrating CEI for transportation solutions.

Due to demand and production fluctuations, urban settings are a major focus area for energy flexibility. To address these challenges, pilots will be run in Romania.

Operators like NOVA (Italy, Greece) will provide essential computing and connectivity infrastructure, enabling the integration of electromobility benefits driven by O-CEI technologies.

Recognizing energy distribution as a vital factor for efficiency and sustainability, a large-scale pilot in Malta will cover the island, led by CMA CGM and involving Schneider Electric, Prodevelop. Awake.AI, and Enemalta.
